Chemical composition and properties of YG20 carbide

What is YG20?

YG20 is an advanced moulding material consisting of insoluble metal carbides and a cobalt or nickel binder. This carbide has high hardness, good wear resistance and red hardness, but is brittle. It has a hardness range of 83-86 HRA, a density of 13.4-13.7 g/cm3, a tensile strength of 2600 MPa, a flexural strength of 3400 MPa and an impact value of 4.8 J/cm2.

Chemical composition and hardness of YG20

The chemical composition of YG20 includes a steel content of 20%carbon, 80%WC and 20%Co. This material is suitable for the production of carbide tools in large series, such as cold stamping tools, cold upsetting tools and cold extrusion tools. In addition, YG20 can also be used in cold extrusion tools for aluminium alloy parts, steel parts and other cold extrusion tools where wear resistance is required, with a recommended hardness value of 62-64 HRC.
